Important Service Dog Trainer & User Etiquette 1.) Always give your dog the opportunity to eliminate before entering any building. 2.) Carry 2 clean up kits with you at all times when entering public places and always pick up after your dog. 3.) NEVER allow your assistance dog to ride in a shopping cart. It is unsanitary and unacceptable. 4.) If you cannot control your dog in a public place, it is your responsibility to remove the dog immediately. 5.) Train your dog to not groom itself in public places. Scratching leaves hair behind and licking butts is not acceptable. A person with a disability CAN and SHOULD be asked to remove his service animal from the premises if: (#1) The animal is out of control and the animal's owner does not take effective action to control it (for example, a dog that barks repeatedly, makes unwelcome contact with people, etc). and/or (#2) The animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others (eliminating indoors, sniffing at food in grocery stores or restaurants, growling, lunging, whinning). |
